Derwent Entertainment Centre

The magnificent Derwent Entertainment Centre. Tasmania's largest indoor entertainment arena.

The last time the Derwent Entertainment Centre has hosted a ballet event was when the Bolshoi Ballet performed there back in 1992.

In 2011, the Tasmanian Ballet performed the classic ballet, "Swan Lake" with over 2,000 attending the matinee and evening performances.

Derwent Entertainment manager, Frank Sajn is committed to give this type of event the red carpet treatment, including modifying the seating to a more intermit setting, more in common to the smaller theatres.

As you can see from these photos, the Centre has been transformed beautifully, with a danceable  floor space of 18m x 12m, about half size bigger than the Theatre Royal, allowing for the Tasmanian Ballet Company to complete
Tchaikovsky’s trio of ballets with The Sleeping Beauty in 2012.
