Ashlee is a 'confident dynamic dancer' who began her career at the age of 6 at a local community ballet school in Melbourne. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts 2006 with a Bachelor of Dance, Ashlee was awarded a Traineeship with the Ajkun Ballet Theatre in New York to further her studies. After graduation, Ashlee accepted contracts with the Tasmanian Classical Ballet Companies Giselle (2007) and Les Sylphides, Illusions, and Ode to V (2008) seasons. During 2008, she performed in contemporary dance instillation work at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts Melbourne, and also performed in numerous corporate dance entertainment events around the city. Ashlee returned to the Tasmanian Ballet in 2010 as choreographer and dance coach, restaging and performing in the ballet The Nutcracker for the company. Using her experience as a qualified dance teacher, Ashlee enthusiastically conducted company rehearsals and School Dance Workshops with the Tasmanian Ballet - a highlight was conducting the largest ballet class in Tasmania for 750 school children in George Town. Whilst maintaining a performance career, Ashlee regularly teaches dance, choreographs original works, and prepares students for dance exams, competitions and performances in classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance at many dance schools throughout Melbourne. Recognised for her achievements as an experienced dancer, teacher and choreographer, Ashlee was recently appointed as a dance examiner with the Southern Federation of Dance. Ashlee is delighted to be back dancing and creating the choreography for the Tasmanian Ballets 2011 season of Swan Lake.
